Owls Fall in NCLL Quarterfinals to Maryland

Despite outscoring the Terps 6-4 in the 2nd half, the Owls 1st half deficit was ultimately too large to overcome.

The Temple Owls faced a familiar foe in the 2019 NCLL Quarterfinals - the Maryland Terrapins. The two teams faced exactly one year prior in the 2018 Quarterfinals, where the Terps were victorious by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately for the Owls, the outcome in 2019 proved similar falling 12-7 in Annapolis, MD.

Maryland took advantage of a flurry of first quarter penalties by the Owls, racing to an 8-1 first half lead. Despite the score Temple never stopped fighting. The 2nd half score was won by the Owls, outscoring the Terps 6-4 in the second half. But ultimately the deficit was too large, and Maryland walked away with the victory. Maryland went on to take down Towson 11-3 in the Semifinals, but lost in the NCLL National Championship game to Navy 7-6.

The Owls 2019 season ends with a 9-6 record. This was the 20th and final season for Temple competing in the NCLL. The Owls will join the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) in 2020.
