LaxPhilly.com Recap - Owls Soar Over Golden Rams, 10-9

In a back and forth affair, the Owls came away with a thrilling victory to open the 2019 season.

On a blustery Friday evening, The Temple Owls kicked off their final NCLL season with a nailbiter.

Like two heavyweights in a battle, this was a physical defensive battle that witnessed West Chester scratch and claw to a 3-1 lead at the end of the first. Owls Coach, Chris Berkelbach, made adjustments and Temple (1-0) fired back with a five goal run in the second while keeping the Golden Rams (0-1) off the score sheet.

Temple seemed to be in control with a 6-3 half time lead. The Owls kept plugging away and went to final stanza with a 9-5 advantage. The Owls faithful were riotous and exuberant but were quickly silenced by a four goal West Chester outburst to knot it up at 9-9. Tyler Fink (5g) stemmed the tide and pushed the Owls to a thrilling 10-9 victory.

When asked if he was more impressed with the five goal performance or the play of his defense, Coach Berkelbach commented, "The five goals was great, but the defense was outstanding! Great game from them".

Star of the Game: Tyler Fink "When I had the shots, I took them....if not, passed it off....good to get the win."

Dis and Dat:

Fink led all goal scorers with his 5 while West Chester got a 4 goal performance from Austin Sensenig. Ryan Schmidt had a strong game for the Owls with a 1 goal 2 assist game.
